From the desk of Dave Jackson:

The Western States Regional Apprenticeship Contest was held on June 6th in Arcadia California hosted by BAC Local 4. The BAC Western Region is the only Region left in the United States to hold this event every year. In fact, the contest has been ongoing since 1963. BAC Local 3 had five apprentices compete. Adam Wakeham and Mateo Cabrera competed for brick. David Salas and Ramiro Lopez were our tile contestants and Jose Gomez competed for the PCC. After the dust settled, Jose Gomez took 1st place in PCC and David Salas placed 3rd in tile. Jose and David are eligible to compete at the International Apprenticeship Contest in Bowie Maryland in September. All our apprentices were in the running as the scores were very close.

We want to thank all our apprentices for their hard work and professionalism. We also want to thank our Apprenticeship Coordinators, Instructors and Secretaries for all their hard work coordinating the event and a special thanks to the families of our apprentices who showed up to support them.
