From the Desk of Tony Santos:

It’s finally getting busy in all our trades. If you are not working right now you should be soon. Please make sure you are checking in every Monday and make sure we have the right phone number and address in our data base. If you miss the check in on Monday, call in anyway and we can add your name.

By the time you receive this newspaper we will already be working on the Apprentice contests. The 1st one is on April 4th at the Mason Development Center, 25347 S. Schulte Rd., Tracy. It starts at 8 am. This 1st contest is for Brick, Marble and P.C.C. Apprentices, Local #3 will provide lunch and refreshments.

The 2nd contest will be held on April 25th at the Tile Training Center 15091 Wicks Blvd. in San Leandro at 8 am, for Tile Layers. Local #3 will provide lunch and refreshments.

The winners of the local contests will go on to compete in the regional contest at Local #4’s new facility in Southern California. This contest will be held on June 6th. All expenses for contestants will be paid by their Apprenticeship programs.

Winners from the Regional contest will move on to compete in the International contest to be held in Bowie Maryland at the John Flynn National Training Center.

The winners of these contest receive cash prizes, tools, trophy’s and in some cases free dues.

Now let’s get to the fun part. Everyone should try and come out and support our apprentices’, they are our future. They will be the ones that keep our trades alive. Plus no one ever goes home hungry and it’s a good time to catch up with old friends and your Field Reps and Officers.

Hope to see as many people as possible come out and support our training programs.
