From the Desk of Gary Peifer:
Brothers and Sisters,
By the time you read this, the California Primary Elections will have been held. Your vote will have been counted and your voice heard, or was it? A Union is a powerful tool, but only if its members work toward a goal together, in solidarity. Together, you elected our Union leadership and your voice was heard. Together, those officers, with your input, have worked to achieve a goal of preserving and promoting our Unions’ strength during an economic crisis. In doing so, we have shown those that would threaten our standard of living and our UNION that we are the voice of the Masonry Industry and we will not be silenced.
In order for our Union to serve its true purpose and remain strong, we as members must insure our future by being active in the Local, State and National election process. We must each play a part in electing the politicians and government officials that will hear OUR voice. To elect those who understand and respect the needs of working families and are willing to protect our right to be UNION. Those people are among us and have been recognized. We must support and promote our cause through them. In order to have PLAS from the bond measures that fund public construction, laws that insure safety and fairness in the workplace and the community, WE, AS UNION MEMBERS MUST ELECT THE LEARDERSHIP OUTSIDE OF OUR UNION. WE, AS UNION MEMBERS MUST REGISTER AND VOTE TO BE HEARD.
The California Labor Federation AFL-CIO has informed me as Secretary / Treasurer that BAC Local 3
California Voter Registration and Participation levels are down. Therefore, in resolve to this matter, we will be contacting members with regard to voter registration and turnout for the upcoming California General Election. BAC Local 3 will also continue to inform and educate our membership regarding the Candidates who support our issues, the Bond measures that support our work and the Labor oriented legislation that affect our rights as Union Members. I encourage all members to stay informed on the California Primary Election results and up to date Union related legislation and candidate endorsements by visiting the California Labor Federation website @calaborfed.org. or our Union website @ bac3-ca.org.
